Day 131: Devonport to Hobart

Today we woke up at 5:45am to get off the ferry around 6:00am. The first thing we did was drive to a cafe to meet the Sharmans (some of our friends) and Oma for breakfast. I got pancakes with banana, strawberries, and maple syrup. The playground nearby had a really fun piece of equipment where you hold on and go in a circle with your feet off the ground.

Then we stopped at the chocolate factory in Latrobe were Dad and Theo played chess in the caravan and we got hot chocolates for everyone (apart from Theo who got a Good Apple juice).

Next we drove to Launceston to drop Theo off for his chess comp tomorrow. He is staying with Vincent. Then we drove home. On the way we stopped in Campbell Town for lunch and I got Banjos! At home Mum and Dad parked the caravan and I unpacked my stuff. We are finally home!!!

Day 123: Hahndorf (Day 1: Olivia)

Today we went to Woodhouse Adventure Park. Woodhouse is a place to camp and has lots of activities to do! We didn't camp there but we got a day pass instead. First we went on the Tube Slide because it closes early. The Tube Slide is where you wait in line for a tube then drag it up the hill. Then slide back down the hill while getting sprayed by sprinklers. I preferred the straight to the curvy slide because it was faster.

Next we did the Challenge Hill, it is where there are lots of obstacles that you can do including, walls to climb over, obstacles to crawl under, obstacles to climb across, and even obstacles to possibly get wet on! There were over 20 obstacles! My favourite obstacle was where you climb from rope to rope over the water! I made it fully across without getting wet but Theo fell in (and got the most wet he possibly could in the process by going for a swim)🀭. My least favorite obstacle was where you had to crawl/slide under a net.

Then we went through the Labyrinth (maze). There were a bunch of riddles to answer at dead ends and even slides, stairs, and fire mans poles throughout the labyrinth.

Last we did the Frisbee GolfπŸ₯β›³. Frisbee golf is a sport where you throw a heavy frisbee into chains and then it falls into a basket. There were 9 holes. Dad came first(πŸ₯‡), Mum came second (πŸ₯ˆ), I came third (πŸ₯‰) and Theo came lastπŸŽ–οΈ.

Day 119: Streaky Bay (Day 2: Olivia)

Today we went on a sea lion and dolphin snorkeling tour! I liked the sea lions more because they were so playful, like dogs! And when Olivia (our in water guide - not me) swam around in circles the sea lions copied her! When I was back on the boat (which was actually quite small) We had Milo and Mum and Dad who were still in the water found a dead Blue Ring Octopus!! Then we went to find some dolphins to swim with.

It took a while to find some dolphins and we were just about to give up and head back when we found some! We all quickly got in the water and were watching one when it swam away! Luckily, there were some others nearby, but it took a while to be close enough to see them (you aren't allowed to get closer to the animal than one metre, but the water wasn't the clearest) There was three of them but they all lost interest after a while so we headed back to have lunch. On the way back some dolphins followed us for a bit, swimming under and around the boat! One of them was called Firefox and he has a hole in its tail! Though they don't know how it got it. They are actually going to name there new (bigger) boat after him.

For lunch Theo and I, along with another kid, had home made chicken nuggets while the adults had a local fish called a Blue Morwong. It was so big that the one fish fed everyone! For dessert the adults had rhubarb, strawberry and blood orange pavlova and us kids had an ice cream. Theo and I had a Milo Ice Cream (we actually also tried the pavlova because mum told the chef I like rhubarb! - which I was unaware of). The lady next to me was from Canada! And some of the others were staying at the same caravan park (Islands Caravan Park) as us!

Day 104: Margaret River (Day 3: Olivia)

This morning we went surfing!! It was amazing. Our instructor, Heather, helped me and Theo a lot. And we all stood up at one point! I had the longest stand and I really enjoyed it. The water was also not that cold which was great! The board was really big though. There was 5 steps to get to standing, which were:

  1. Look for the wave
  2. Paddle
  3. Get on to knees,
  4. Put front foot in front
  5. Move into standing/surfer pose.

The fourth step was the hardest.

Day 103: Margaret River (Day 2: Olivia)

Today we went to do soccer golf. It was fun! Soccer golf is where you kick the ball through obstacles and into the hole. Dad said if we got a hole in 1 he would buy us a stuffed animal! But none of us did πŸ™. Mum came first, Theo was second, I came third, and Dad was last.

Then we had froyo for the fist time and it was delicious. Froyo is frozen yogart with toppings. I got a vanilla and mango froyo with strawberrys, marshmellows and sprinkles.

Day 100: Dwellingup (Day 2)

Today we went mountain bike riding at Dwellingup. While renting bikes we bumped into Mim (Elka and Sid's Mum!!)

The trails we rode on were Emu Run, Munda Biddi Trail, Marinyup Loop, Blaze and BFG. Then we went to the pump track. Most of the trails are made out of gravel and it was very slippery and the bike brakes weren't really working πŸ™. Overall I enjoyed the riding, it wasn't to big of an up but that meant the down wasn't very good, but that's ok.

In the evening we made damper. I got to knead the flour and water and we cooked it over the fire. It was hard to get it to cook all the way through so I didn't like the taste very much.

We also saw a bandicoot near our campsite. It touched me while I was sitting still outside, but I moved and scared it off πŸ™. It was so cute! πŸ€β€οΈ*

(* Unfortunately a rat is the closest there is to a bandicoot emoji πŸ™)

Day 97: Perth (Day 4: Olivia)

Today we went to the Aquarium! But when we got there I got a headache!! So me and Dad went back to the caravan while Mum and Theo did the aquarium. I'm not sure what Mum and Theo did but I just stayed in bed. I was feeling a lot better when we went to pick Mum and Theo up so we all went to look around again. Theo had gotten a hammerhead shark plush toy that he has been wanting for awhile from the gift shop, he named it Pickle.

My favourite place was the touch tank, I touched a Port Jackson shark, but I couldn't reach the bamboo shark. I also picked up a starfish! We also went on this moving pathway that went around and under a big tank with lots of sharks, fish, coral, and rays. We even saw a turtle! We also saw more coral and fish at the marina and other rooms. At the end I got an adorable, soft, big-ish... axolotl! I named her Bella, she looks very good in Dad's sunglasses.

Day 96: Perth (Day 3)

Today we went on a train to the Fremantle kids bookshop. At the bookshop me and Theo both got a book for getting to 100 nights of reading in term 1 & 2. I got a book called Murder Most Unladylike by Robin Stevens and Theo got a book called Asterix and the Golden Sickle

Then we got a drink and went to Fox in a Box also in Fremantle to do an escape room. We did the escape room Mastermind: A Heist Story. We nearly finished and probably would have finished with another 60 seconds (we were also trying to do the last puzzle a harder way... by accident). We sadly ran out of time. It was a great escape room and a fun day.

Day 94: Perth (Day 1)

Today we went to Scitech. There were so many cool things to play and interact with including, tunnels representing the brain that shot out bits of neon fabric that was representing thoughts, an earthquake simulator to build stuff on, a machine you used to move a mouse on a screen to the cheese, a chair that you could sit on and lift your own weight, and lots more! We even watched a show which involved a lot of blowing up.

Later we went to the Banksy museum to look at some of his art. Banksy is a mysterious street artist, whose art just appears out of nowhere!

Day 84: Shark Bay (Day 2)

Today we got up early to go see the dolphins 🐬 getting fed at Monkey Mia (sadly, no monkeys). They feed the dolphins three times. The first time we stood on the beach and only one dolphin came. The second time we stood on the jetty and two dolphins came. While standing on the jetty Theo's hat 🎩 accidentally fell off the side into the restricted area that was just for the dolphins!! We had to wait until the second feeding was finished, and for permission from the rangers, before someone (Dad) could swim out and get it. There were a lot of comments from the peanut gallery (fortunately, no peanuts). For the third feeding a whole group of dolphins came into the area (more than the first two feeds). We think they came in to see what was splashing around in their restricted area - Dad.

Then we looked at souvenirs. I got a badge and turtle mood ring. Then mum and dad got a drink before we went for a walk. After the walk we got lunch - well Mum and Dad did because there was nothing me and Theo wanted that did not have nuts. So we both had a milkshake.😁

We just relaxed for the rest of the day.
